It is time to review Medicare Part D prescription drug policies and Medicare Advantage policies. The season for reviews and changes for the next year is from October 15 to December 7 this year.
Seniors who have a Medicare Part D prescription drug policy or a Medicare Advantage policy can review their policies during this window of only a few weeks to consider making any policy changes for the year 2015.
So, any senior citizen who has one of those policies should contact our agency or the insurance agent who helped to obtain it and review whether a change is advisable during the period of October 15 through December 7.
Please, don’t wait until the last minute. Reviewing these policies involves listing all medications taken and checking on the internet for how the medications are rated on a tier system with various plans. How the medication is rated is part of the formula for deciding the policy co-pays or out of pocket costs.
Helping a senior citizen with such a review really is a service from the insurance agent or agency. The Medicare system, rules, and regulations do not allow an insurance agent to make much money for this service. It is almost a public service from a private citizen. So, thank the insurance agent or agency that does this for you or the senior citizens in your family.
