WHAT IF?

By Woodrow Wilcox

What if some crooks conspired to “steal” elections so that only they and their crooked friends could win the primary elections of the county’s majority party?

What if these crooks paid people to vote under the names of dead people and people who had moved away from the area in order to cheat to win the primary election of the county’s majority political party?

What if the crooked politicians got people to tear down the signs of honest opponents in the primary elections?

What if the crooked politicians got some people to do bad things in order to help the crooked politicians to win the primary elections of the county’s majority party?

What if these crooked politicians won the general election because not enough people knew that they were crooks?

What if these crooked politicians started to waste or steal tax money from the public treasuries in order to make themselves and their friends rich?

What if these crooked politicians started raising taxes so that they and their crooked friends could get even more wealth by wasting or stealing money from the public treasuries?

What if these crooked politicians gave the county a bad reputation among business leaders nationwide as a place where crooked politicians would “shakedown” business owners for money?

What if these crooked politicians gave the county such a bad reputation among business leaders nationally that almost no new business would locate in the county?

What if these crooked politicians gave the county such a bad reputation among business leaders nationally that the county developed a high unemployment rate?

What if these crooked politicians deliberately tried to keep the unemployment rate high in order to request and get state and federal grant money?

What if these crooked politicians squandered the state and federal grant money that was intended to help the people of the county just so that the crooked politicians and their crooked friends could get even more wealthy?

What if the tax burden became so great that thousands of businesses and people started losing their homes and properties in foreclosures or tax lien sales?

Then, what if this caused the voters in the majority party to think?

What if the voters in the majority party realized that the county’s majority party had been captured by crooks who would not allow a fair and honest primary election?

What if the voters in the majority party realized that the only way to get rid of the crooked politicians in their own party was to vote for honest candidates regardless of the candidates’ political party?

What if the crooked politicians lost the election and didn’t have access to the public treasuries so that they could waste and rob the tax money of the people?

What if the crooked politicians decided that because they had lost the election, they would leave the county and not steal money from the county’s public treasuries anymore?

What if the tax burden went down because no crooked politician was wasting or stealing the people’s tax money anymore?

What if the county’s reputation improved so that new businesses wanted to move to the county?

What if the unemployment rate went down because the new businesses hired many people who could not find work when the crooked politicians controlled the county?

What if? I don’t know. I live in Lake County, Indiana. That’s next to Crook County, Illinois.
