Letter to the Editor HARRY REID AND PROFIT

Dear Editor,

During the televised debate between Sharron Angle and Harry Reid, Harry Reid said, “Insurance companies don’t do things out of the goodness of their heart; they do it because of the profit motive.”

But, politicians like Reid don’t do things from the kindness of their hearts, either. Expansion of the federal government’s involvement in health care will put billions of dollars into the pockets of federal government contractors who sell computer systems and services to the federal government. That benefits the special interests that use expensive lobbyists in Washington, D.C. that Reid likes. Reid profits from political donations from the special interests that he serves. He does not serve the people of Nevada any more.

One of the worst things that Reid did to profit the special interests that he serves is to write, push, and pass the health care reform bill without allowing careful review and debate of every section of the bill. As a result, a health care reform bill with stupid wording was passed which caused tens of thousands of children who had insurance policies to lose that insurance before September 23, 2010. If the bill had been scrutinized and debated, the sick children who lost their health insurance probably would not have lost it.

Thanks a lot, Harry Reid!
